Seasonal Events
As well as summer residential courses, summer concerts are held in June each year in one of the 12 local Authorities in the west of Scotland.
In addition, since 1996 the Orchestra and Concert Band have performed each year in August at the Festival of British Youth Orchestras in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Additional events held in recent years have included;
A ‘Taster Day’ conducted in recent years by RSAMD Principal, John Wallace OBE, and RSNO Assistant Conductor, David Danzmayr
A joint rehearsal with the RSNO
WSSCB taking part in joint rehearsals with members of the RSAMD Wind Ensemble
Solo/Concerto Competition for outstanding applicants - the winner performs a concerto with WSSSO during the summer concert season
WSSCB performing at the BASBWE International Wind Conference at the RSAMD
Members of WSSSO performing with Celtic Connections Youth Orchestra
Taster Day

The purpose of this event is to introduce members to each other and to staff involved the summer course. We also play through some of the music we may be working on and give an informal performance at the end of the day for parents.
