RSNO/WSSSO SIDE BY SIDE
We are pleased to announce that this year’s Side by Side event will take place at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow on Thursday 19th August from 6pm – 9pm. Members are asked to arrive at 5.30pm via the Stage Door entrance on West Nile Street. A map and directions are available online at; www.glasgowconcerthalls.com/maps. The rehearsal will focus mainly on Symphony no. 5 by Shostakovich but may include some work on the Strauss and Arutunian also. 
 
 

August Concerts - Arrangements for West of Scotland Schools Concert Band
 
Please read the following details carefully to ensure that you have all relevant information for the forthcoming concerts. If for any reason you can no longer attend, please let us know immediately.
 
1. Rehearsal Arrangements
The rehearsal will take place on Sunday 22nd August in the In-Service Suite of the David Stow Building (same venue as Taster Day) from 10am until 5pm. Please arrive at 9.30am and bring a packed lunch. 
 
Members must attend this rehearsal if they wish to participate in the August concerts.
 
2. Concert Dates
  • Monday 23rd August at 11.15am, Paisley Grammar School, Renfrewshire 
  • Tuesday 24th August at 7.00pm, Grand Hall, City Halls, Glasgow
 
3. Arrangements for Paisley Grammar School Concert – Monday 23 August
Concert Band members are asked to make their own way to Paisley Grammar School. There will be a rehearsal from 10.00am – 11.00am. Please arrive by 9.30am and bring any food and drink that you may require on the day.
 
A van will be at the David Stow Building on Sunday 22nd August for any larger instruments that cannot be transported to Paisley Grammar School.
 
The concert is expected to finish at approximately 12.30pm. Parents are advised to pick you up from Paisley Grammar School at 12.45pm.
 
4. Arrangements for Joint Showcase Concert – Glasgow City Halls, Tuesday 24th August
Members are asked to make their own way to the City Halls. There will be a rehearsal from 3.00pm – 5.30pm. Please arrive by 2.30pm and bring any food and drink that you may require on the day.
 
The concert will end at approximately 9.15pm. Parents are advised to pick you up from the City Halls at 9.30pm.

The rehearsal will take place on Sunday 22nd August in the Francis Tomb Hall of the David Stow Building (same venue as Taster Day) from 10am until 5pm. Please arrive at 9.30am and bring a packed lunch. 
 
Members must attend this rehearsal if they wish to participate in the August concerts.
 
2. Concert Dates
  • Monday 23rd August at 1pm, Brannock High School, North Lanarkshire 
  • Tuesday 24th August at 7.00pm, Grand Hall, City Halls, Glasgow
 
3. Arrangements for Brannock High School Concert – Monday 23 August
 
  • 1 coach will depart from Collins Street near The Barony Hall at 10.00am. Please ensure you arrive in good time.
  • 1 coach will depart from Kyle Academy, Ayr at 9.30am. Please ensure you arrive in good time.
 
Please check coach lists supplied. If your name appears on the wrong list or you will make your own travel arrangements, please let us know by text or email as soon as possible. Please bring with you any food and drink you will require for the day.
 
Instruments should be carried with you on the coach. A van will be at the David Stow Building on Sunday 22nd August for any larger instruments that cannot be accommodated on the coach.
 
At the end of the concert, the coaches will return to Collins Street at approximately 3.30pm and Kyle Academy at 4.30pm. Your parents are advised to pick you up from the coach.
 
4. Arrangements for Joint Showcase Concert – Glasgow City Halls, Tue 24th August
Members are asked to make their own way to the City Halls. There will be a rehearsal from 1.00pm - 3.30pm. Please arrive by 12.30pm and bring any food and drink that you may require on the day.
 
The concert will end at approximately 9.15pm. Parents are advised to pick you up from the City Halls at 9.30pm.
